BERLIN http://www.stlouisbluesteamstore.com/ad … ton-jersey , Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Wednesday that Germany does not support U.S. President Donald Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as the capital city of Israel.

"The Federal Government does not support this attitude because the status of Jerusalem is to be negotiated within the framework of a two-state solution," spokesperson Steffen Seibert said on Twitter on behalf of Merkel.

Earlier Wednesday, Trump announced that he formally recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital, while ordering to immediately begin the process of relocating the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

During his presidential campaign, Trump pledged to move the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Although the U.S. Congress passed the Jerusalem Embassy Act of 1995 which required the relocation of the U.S. embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, former U.S. presidents, including George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Barack Obama, consistently renewed a presidential waiver to delay the relocation out of consideration for national security interests.

Earlier, the Palestinian authorities have reiterated their stance that there will be no sovereign state of Palestine without East Jerusalem as its capital.

The status of Jerusalem remains one of the core issues in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. So far, the international community does not recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and no foreign countries base their embassies in the city.

KIEV, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- Kiev's Olympic Stadium will host the 2018 UEFA Champions League final, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko announced on Thursday.

"UEFA has decided to hold the final match of the Champions League 2018 in Kiev. This is great news for all of us, and especially -- for the Ukrainian fans," Poroshenko wrote on his Facebook page.

He has voiced the confidence that the Champions League final match, the first to be staged on the Ukrainian soil, will be held at the highest level.

The 70,050-seat Olympic stadium was the venue for the final match of Euro 2012 soccer championship co-hosted by Ukraine and Poland.

The stadium was built in 1923, but was renovated five times. After its latest reconstruction for the Euro 2012, the arena became a multifunctional venue suitable for hosting not only football matches, but also concerts and track and field competitions.

The 2018 UEFA Champions League final match is slated for May 26, 2018.

WUZHEN, China, May 25 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Go player Ke Jie, current world No. 1, admitted defeat during the mid-game of his second duel against computer program AlphaGo here on Thursday.

Having lost the first game of the best-of-three match here on Tuesday with the narrowest margin, Ke, 19, had a very close call to a chance of winning AlphaGo today.

"I was very nervous as I thought I had an actual chance at winning," said Ke who tried to calm his pounding heart by pressing his chest during the match. "And, because of this intensity I made a few regretful moves. I guess that is exactly what we can call a human weakness."

According to Demis Hassabis, the founder of DeepMind Technology, this match was the best eye opener in which he described the match to be from the future.

"As we were in the control room looking at what AlphaGo's evaluation is saying; the evaluation: win rate, for roughly 50 moves, it thought that Ke Jie has been playing perfectly. And it agreed with all the moves, then, for the first roughly 100 moves, it is the closest game we have seen anyone play against the master version of AlphaGo."

The AlphaGo team did not share information regarding the fluctuation of win rate during the match, while for Ke, the outcome was much better than he had anticipated.

Knowing this master version, Ke shared that he thought of little to a chance of winning before the match.

"Today's game has been the best encouragement to me," said Ke.

Hassabis twitted after the match, describing the game to be amazing and complex.

"Ke Jie pushed AlphaGo right to the limit," he wrote.

The third and final round of Ke Jie versus AlphaGo will take place here on Saturday.
